A 15-Year-Old Created This Amazing 800HP ‘Baby’ Koenigsegg
With
pictures of Ferraris and Lamborghinis lining their bedroom walls (or
smartphone screens), many 15-year-olds dream of one day designing their
own car. Bangkok teenager Jennarong Muengtaweepongsa can count himself among that group, except for one minor detail. He already does.
And this is his latest supercar creation. Meet the Koenigsegg Legera,
described by Muengtaweepongsa as a baby supercar designed to fit
underneath the brand’s hot-performing Agera. So far it exists only in
the digital world, but if Jennarong gets his way, this 800 horsepower
super machine could someday prowl the real world like its Swedish
namesake.
That’s
right… he said 800 horsepower. In speaking with Jennarong, he explained
his vision for a scaled down, smaller Koenigsegg that would rival the
likes of the Lamborghini Aventador and Pagani Huayra. To do so, he
envisions that it would employ the same V8 from the light speed Agera,
albeit in a de-tuned format, giving the car a theoretical top speed of
220 miles per hour and a zero to 60 mph sprint in under three seconds.
Fittingly
the concept’s name – Legera – translates to mean ‘alloy’ in Swedish,
and when extended to ‘leggera’ comes to mean ‘light’ in Italian.
Together, ‘light alloy’. Undoubtedly, the most jaw-dropping aspect of
this concept is its spot-on design. It looks like a car that Koenigsegg
could put on sale today, and most wouldn’t think twice.
Jennarong
highlights that his design retains the conventional Koenigsegg
removable top, integrating two bold lines which flow across the car from
front to rear. Styling blends the brand’s current Regera hybrid and
Agera features, with an aggressive front splitter which integrates into
side skirts. Of interesting note, the door panels cut into the wheel
well, helping to keep the supercar’s proportions squat and compact.
It’s
quite a captivating shape indeed, and not the only looker that
Muengtaweepongsa has penned. His previous creations include an Aston
Martin DB11 Concept and the recently lauded PSC Motors SIN. His inspiration?
“I
have tons of cars I look to for inspiration, I just can’t pick one,”
mentions Jennarong. “There’s the McLaren F1, the P1, then there’s the
Porsche 918, Koenigsegg Agera, Lamborghini Aventador – way too many to
tell you all of them.”
